Cassie qualifies for crufts 2016

BREAKING NEWS!

Cassie and her Flyball team have qualified to compete at Crufts, the world's greatest dog show.

Cassie is now 2 years old and has come a long way since we first met her when she was just a puppy at 6 weeks old. We caught up with Cassie's owner Anne who is especially delighted with the news:

"We attended the Crufts qualifier at Peterborough Show Ground and were successful in joining our other team (Warrington Warriors) that had already qualified back in May. The club are really pleased we'll now have 2 teams at Crufts next March. Cassie's birthday was on the day of the Crufts qualifiers.

Cassie has competed regularly in 7 British Flyball Association (BFA) competitions with our top team 'Live Wires'. We have worked hard, done really well and from 600 competing teams, we are placed 6th in the UK seed list. When some dogs and handlers left us earlier this year we had to set up a new team and Cassie as a small 'height dog' was included from the start. Since then we have progressed much better than we'd expected. We believe we can get faster times through the rest of summer and into September, hoping to drop below 16.30 seconds, so a lot of work to do with the team as yet. Only seems just yesterday she was a weeny puppy, the smallest and bossiest of a litter of 5. In fact her brother and sister competed against her at one point and also qualified.

Throughout August we'll be competing with over 300 BFA teams at Catton Hall Derbyshire. Currently we stand to race off with some of the best teams in the UK, which will give us final qualification for racing well on Sunday. I think it is too soon to expect Division 1 but we'll give it our best shot!Cassie is progressing fabulously and it is more me as the handler needing to get my act together than her. I must try not to make too many mistakes which can easily happen at the speed the dogs are racing at; comparably Cassie does so much better and is much more reliable than me.

For Cassie it is great she can compete in such high profile events whilst she is still young and fit - she loves every minute she is in the flyball ring."

We're amazed at how far Cassie has come, she really is a superstar! If you too are a fan of Cassie, make sure you stay tuned because we've teamed up with Forest Holidays to give Cassie a well deserved break away with her family in September. We'll be paying her a visit to see how she is enjoying spending some quality time with her family!
